Staffs WI Go All Around the World
Mediterranean picnics, Indian chutneys and Nordic gnomes were just some of the exhibits in the Staffordshire Federation of Women’s Institutes marquee at the County Show.
The WI’s theme this year was All Around the World and members – and their children and grandchildren – enjoyed the journey in the most creative ways.
The Classes were so eclectic that there was something for everyone – Japanese Sashiko embroidery, North American Bundt cakes, Eastern Bazaar, floral art representing a country – and more. The skills on display made the judges’ work difficult and deserved praise was included in their comments.
Beryl Podmore, Chairman of the County Show Committee said, ‘The County Show is always a highlight of the WI year and we look forward to coming together to showcase members’ talent. It was lovely to be able to share this with those who visited our marquee. The icing on the cake was that we were awarded overall 2nd prize for our marquee’.
