Huxley Cup Competition 2021
As you may be aware, this year’s Huxley Cup Competition had been designed with the intention of the winning entry being replicated at this year’s RHS Hampton Court Garden Festival.
Given the risks that the current pandemic poses and the uncertainty of what this may bring in the coming months, the Activities Committee has decided that the Huxley Cup competition 2021 should be amended and the link with the RHS removed. The safety of members is of upmost importance and this, together with the level of uncertainty posed by Covid-19, it was decided that it would not be appropriate to encourage members to spend time working on together and managing a project, given the current national restrictions and where the outcome may not ultimately be achievable.
Taking this into consideration, the Huxley Cup competition has now been adjusted as follows…
- Timeframe extended to allow WIs additional time to plan and present a finished design.
- Schedule adjusted to invite WIs to design a ‘planted area’ within their community rather than a raised bed.
- Removal of the need to fit design within a certain criteria, therefore creating more opportunities for a variety of entries.
- Entries must still be submitted directly to the NFWI, therefore reducing administrative time required by federations.
Please find attached a revised schedule and entry form; both documents will be available for members to download from My WI.

2021 Not in my Name Competition
NFWI-Wales has launched a new competition for members to enter as part of its Not in my Name campaign. Established in 2012, Not in my Name aims to end violence against women by raising awareness and recruiting male ambassadors to make a promise to never commit, excuse or remain silent about male violence against women.
The 2021 competition is to ‘Design a logo for a T-shirt’.
