My name is Jenny Crump. In 1996 I moved into a rural village in the county where I knew no-one. I joined the WI and have never looked back. I have been a member of three WIs and am currently a member of Tean WI . In my time I have been President of two and Secretary of one and Group Co-ordinator of the Chartley Group. I joined the Board of Trustees in 2011. I wanted to put something back into WI and following the unique opportunity of guest editing WI Life and retirement felt I had the time and energy to do so.
I am Chairman of the Leisure and Pleasure sub committee, formerly known as the Music, Drama, Sport and Leisure sub committee. I am ACWW (Associated Countrywomen of the World) Staffordshire representative. For a number of years I edited Cornerstone News, the Federation’s newsletter. I found with my secretarial/teaching background it was a challenging but enjoyable task.
I love walking, am a crown green bowling addict and also enjoy taking photographs of wildlife and the beautiful Staffordshire countryside. With time on my hands I produced a wildlife calendar for my family. Another passion is the ukulele and I do try to practice when time allows. It is my ambition to form an SFWI ukulele group. Walking netball was an initiative launched by Netball England and me. Although I am not very crafty Tean WI. I have taken up doing tapestry again, recovered the furniture in the conservatory etc.
The WI movement has given me the chance to meet many different people. There are lots of opportunities out there and the world is definitely our oyster.
I look forward to meeting fellow members in the months to come.
