I joined the Board of Trustees in October 2019.
Born in Handsworth, Birmingham, my family moved to Aldridge near Walsall in the 1960s and I moved to Staffordshire on my marriage in 1976.
My background is as a Local Government Officer, initially in West Bromwich which became Sandwell and then Cannock Chase where I was their Environmental Protection Manager.
After seeing a WI poster advertising an interesting talk, I visited Brocton WI and subsequently joined in 1998. I was nominated for committee the following year and elected Programme Secretary and a few years later, their Press Secretary.
I joined what is now called the Education & Public Affairs sub-committee in 2014 and took up the Chair position in October 2020. I am also the Federation Press Officer and Quiz Master.
My main interests are to do with the environment and wildlife. In my spare time I like to walk on Cannock Chase, read and write poems and short stories for pleasure. I believe that everyone can make a positive difference, be it to their local community or more widely and encourage people to have the confidence to get involved with what matters to them.
