Homes & Gardens Day 2019

As a team new and longstanding member came together to organise our last successful and very popular Homes & Gardens Day 2019, at Staffordshire Showground. Martin Roberts, hot foot from his BBC home renovation programme was the inspiring afternoon speaker with the very amusing, Sir Richard Fitz Herbert starting the day by talking about running Tissington Hall.  Hannah Kinston rounded off the morning, explaining how she and her fiancé built their cheese business. Many stalls were situated around the venue There was gin and cheese to taste as well as the goodies provided by WI Markets. A flower competition to win the Lichfield Charity Vase & a cake competition for the Helen Clayton Trophy were very well supported

Alas the 2020 Homes & Gardens Day was cancelled and is postponed until April 19th 2022.The format will be the same with the main speaker being the garden designer Diarmuid Gavin. The stall holders are really anxious to see their WI friends again.

At the last County Show Preview evening in 2019 we supported the County Show Committee providing guests and WI members with fizz & canapés. We aim to do this again on August 24th 2021.

The team are moving towards more fund raising in smaller venues in different parts of our very diverse county. To this end we are joining forces with our Leisure & Pleasure counterparts to run our fund raisers.

The newest project for Homes & Gardens team has been to set up a Zoom Workshop for an Easter Table Arrangement, hosted by renowned florist Jonathan Moseley on March 23rd 2021. Tickets are free.    A programme of ‘Zoom’ workshops and talks is being planned for 2021
