Verity Conner from Rolleston on Dove, East Staffs
Hooked by my friend with a spare Group meeting ticket, I joined Rolleston WI 44 years ago, becoming a committee member straight away. From Catering Officer, Secretary, Programme Planner & Welfare Officer to President, I have had fun working alongside all the members.
Retiring from teaching, I made the most of all the SFWI events. I was thrilled to be invited to join the Member Support committee and be given the opportunity in 2017 to train as a WI Adviser. It is a privilege and a pleasure to meet members at their own WI meetings and offer any help and advice if required.
In 2018 I joined the Board of Trustees, hoping to help the Federation. I became Chairman of Homes & Gardens Committee and, with the hard work of all the Homes & Gardens Team arranging Homes & Gardens Days. Homes & Gardens Committee has become the Events Committee. I am proud to be at the helm of such a dynamic team.
I am honoured to be Vice Chairman of the Federation.
Besides organising, I enjoy baking, especially with my young granddaughters.
WI has widened my horizons, improved my skill set but most of all given me special friends, with whom I have great fun.
